House-sitter sought

Preparation:
Contact and get to know your house sitter. Photos are one great way to become aquainted. We strongly recommend that you request documents that may guarantee the honesty of the family or house sitters (statement of criminal record, proof of identity, summary of his/her professional career, letters of recommendation, etc).

Greeting

To prepare your house:

CLEAN – Ensure the house is clean and tidy (clean grounds, kitchen, bathroom, empty refrigerator except for an arrival meal). CLEAR – Ensure your home has room for your guests and their essentials. Space must be available in cupboards and drawers to make it possible for your guests to settle in comfortably (we strongly recommend to store away your personal belongings in a locked cupboard, or cellar or attic). PREPARE - Linen, napkins, hand towels, clean clothes, and essentials for a first meal. STORE OUT OF REACH - Lock away valuable or fragile objects to avoid any accidental breakage.

Preparing instructions:
- Best method to use each household appliance such as the telephone, stereo, television, etc. - Instructions for safe use of electricity, gas, heating, air-conditioning, etc. - How to take care of the plants, pets, swimming pool, special disposal regulations, maid service, etc. - List of useful telephone numbers (family, friends, doctor, baby-sitter, etc). - Provide information of your local surroundings that may be enjoyable for your guests (local attractions, restaurants, etc). Means of transportation (bus, train, subway, etc) and useful guides and maps. - And of course all interesting information that you would like to share with your guests!

Contact the insurer of your house, car, etc., to ensure that are no problems.

Each house sitting agreement is tailored to the needs of the participants. We suggest you consider the following when you make your agreement: - small house maintenance chores - watering and caring for the house plants and garden - caring for pets

And perhaps, two small gestures of friendship: - a small gift of welcome - a greeting by one of your friends or family members
